Here are a few suggestions for Lent prayer, fasting and almsgiving.

At minimum, abstain from eating meat on Ash Wednesday & Good Friday.
Practice abstaining from meat on Ash Wednesday & all Friday's during Lent.
Consider fasting from other types of activities, such as: Television, Video Games, take out meals or try tackling the besetting sin that is difficult to let go.
Take on something that will improve your health, intellect or your faith. Or all 3.
Fast from a particular food item or habit. (e.g. Candy, to go Coffee)
Commute to work in quiet. Give up listening to radio in the car.
