Second graders are excited to continue on their faith journey this year. They will prepare for the Sacrament of Reconciliation in the spring with their families. Second graders participate in Atrium weekly and prepare Mass as a class twice a year. Daily prayer opportunities allow children to pray traditional Catholic prayers as well as praying in their own words.
All academic subject areas are supported by Diocesan Curriculum standard guidelines.
The Discipline with Purpose program is utilized school wide to assist students in learning self-discipline skills.
Second graders look forward to weekly Computer and Library classes as well as P.E., Spanish, and Music. The Accelerated Math program allows students to practice and improve math skills. Two field trips are planned for this year, one in October to Mesa’s Center for the Arts and another to the Botanical Gardens in the spring.
Parents are invited to join their child in decorating a gingerbread house and for Mother’s Day Tea. Parents who have completed their “Called to Protect” training may also accompany the class on field trips.
Homework packets are sent home weekly on Monday and are due back on Friday. A short newsletter full of information will accompany each packet. Weekly academic and behavior reports are sent home each Friday along with completed and corrected work.
